Happy Labor Day!

I promise, this will be a short Musings in honor of resting and relaxing for the many of us who generally work every day!

President Grover Cleveland signed a law in 1894, making the first Monday in September of each year a national holiday that recognizes the many contributions workers have made to America’s strength, prosperity, and well-being.

Labor Day also marks the end of summer…though the blistering heat continues here in Florida…and the resumption of traffic and bustling now that our kids are back in school and college. My youngest grandson, Cole, and the last of my grandchildren, is beginning his freshman year at University of Michigan.

Tip for everyone – Careful when Unsubscribing

Cyberthreats is a menace to all of us and we, at Raymond James, are constantly trained on how to protect your data and our computers from being hacked. The most recent recommendation was to NOT “Unsubscribe” with any website with whom you are unfamiliar. By doing so, you may unwittingly enable the hacker to enter your computer. Instead, just click on “Spam”.

Tax Planning

Have you maximized your retirement plans, taken your RMD, began your charity donations, taken advantage of tax losses? All must be completed by end of the year.

Enjoy your Labor Day. I had hoped to binge-watch Suits on Netflix, but instead I will be working on a presentation for a reunion of the MS Delta Chinese at the Mississippi Delta Chinese Historical Museum. I will be honored as the guest speaker and will discuss how my MS heritage got me to a Wall St. career. You will read all about it in my next Musings. Stay tuned!
