Happy 4th of July!

As long time readers of Margaret’s Musings know, July 4th is one of the most important celebrations in my family….stemming back to the fact that my Dad was born on July 4th. Independence Day was famous for his big parties and famous barbeque sauce at our home on Highway 61 in Shelby, MS.

Even though my dad passed away years ago, we still have reasons to celebrate with a big party as our youngest daughter, Dana, was married to Kenji on July 4th 1998 and our oldest granddaughter, Micaela Cacho-Negrete, was born on July 4th 2000.

Needless to say, COVID 19 means big celebrations are unwise this year and flying to CA (where we have continued to celebrate) is too dangerous for seniors like me. Instead, we will invite our large extended family to a Zoom party to wish Micaela a happy 20th birthday....

I am sure that each of my siblings and my numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins will celebrate in their own manner this year. Thankfully, my sister, Judy, has supplied all in the family with my Dad’s famous barbecue sauce!

In order to help you celebrate, below please find the most amazing rendition of the Star Spangled Banner:

No surprise that the first half of 2020 has been full of the “unexpected.” In the next 2 weeks, I will have Scott and Bruce share with you their experiences and perspectives.

Until then…wear your face mask and hope the graph below helps you with social distancing!
